Landsborough Park n Ride Opens

The new Landsborough park ‘n’ ride and bus interchange will be open to the public from 4am on Monday the 14th of August.

This expansion forms part of the works for Stage 1 of the Beerburrum to Nambour Rail Upgrade (B2N) project.

Sunshine Coast MP Andrew Wallace said the B2N project was made possible thanks to $390 million of funding provided by the former Federal Coalition government.

“Three-hundred additional parking spaces will now be available on the eastern side of the station, along with a new bus interchange this will increase capacity, improve reliability, and reduce travel times for passenger and freight services in the growing Sunshine Coast region,” the Fisher MP said.

“The previous Coalition Federal Government provided $390 million to fund 50 per cent of the $780 million duplication of the North Coast Line from Beerburrum to Nambour. That’s 50 per cent of a project which is 100 per cent the responsibility of the State Government.

“Once again, we’re seeing the State Labor government rely on the heavy lifting of myself and my Federal LNP colleague Ted O’Brien to get their projects completed.

“This is Mark Bailey’s project and after he argued for many months about the State and Federal contributions to the Beerburrum to Nambour rail duplication, he chose to shrink the project and cough up just 30 per cent of funding for stage one.”

This State Labor Government talks the big talk about infrastructure, but the truth is, it would have next to nothing to spruce about, but for the work done by the former Coalition Federal Government.

The new park ‘n’ ride also includes additional accessible parking spaces, a bicycle parking area, motorcycle parking and a kiss ‘n’ ride drop-off zone.

The new bus interchange will continue servicing routes to the Coast with Hinterland routes continuing to operate from the existing western side.

Early works for Stage 1 of the Beerburrum to Nambour Rail Upgrade also includes realignment of a 1-kilometre section of Steve Irwin Way and expansion of the park ‘n’ ride facility at Nambour.
