The Pelican Waters and Golden Beach communities are set to benefit from a significant upgrade to the Pelican Waters Bowls Club under a re-elected Liberal National Government.
The $220,000 pledge will see the replacement of the club’s flooring and carpet, as well as an upgrade to outdoor roofing, with the installation of retractable sunshades over the top of the greens, improving the safety and longevity of the club’s sporting and community facilities.
Federal Member for Fisher and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Andrew Wallace said that this commitment was welcome news to the club’s members and would be of benefit to the broader Pelican Waters and Golden Beach community.
“The Pelican Waters Bowls Club has become a thriving sporting club in the local area, as well as a meeting place for members of the wider community,” Mr Wallace said.
“I am proud to have been able to secure this support from a re-elected Liberal National Government, which will enable the Club to provide a safer, more comfortable space to train, compete and to bring the community together.”
Tony Carter, Chairperson of the Pelican Waters Bowls Club, said that members were ecstatic to hear about the commitment, indicating that it was a great opportunity for the club.
“This is just sensational news. Our club is continually growing but our facility is in need of repair and improvement,” Mr Carter said.
“These efforts are sizeable financial exercises, and this funding would go some way in allowing us to expand our usable space in all weather. It’s just fantastic news!” he added.
The Pelican Waters Bowls Club is a social and sporting club based in Golden Beach. The club offers competitive and social bowls, as well a facility for the wider Caloundra community. This is another example of the Liberal National Government backing local sporting and community groups and delivering a stronger future for Fisher.
