Nominations are now open for one of the Sunshine Coast’s premier awards programs, as Andrew Wallace launches the fifth annual Fisher Community Awards.
The Federal Member for Fisher said the awards recognise organisations and individuals who have made a difference to the community in the fields of education, employment, environment, and retirement.
“Since I was elected in 2016, it has been my mission to encourage sustainable growth that safeguards the lifestyle we enjoy and makes Fisher the place to be for education, employment, and retirement,” Mr Wallace said.
“I launched the Fisher Community Awards to celebrate those unsung heroes in our community who are delivering on that mission through their bright ideas, hard work, and selfless service.”
Last year’s winners included a retirement village manager who personally delivered birthday cakes, library books and Easter eggs to residents during a lockdown and a retiree who made toys and blankets from recycled materials for those in need.
“So much of the incredible work that goes on is behind the scenes, and I look forward to hearing from you – the people of Fisher – in uncovering more of these inspirational and admirable stories,” Mr Wallace said.
“I need your help to find these local champions. Please visit my website and tell me about an individual or organisation that you think deserves to win an award in any or all ten categories and why.”
Winners will receive a medallion and a local business gift voucher at a special awards night in October.
