MEDIA RELEASE

11 July 2025

Shadow Cabinet Secretary and Federal Member for Fisher, Andrew Wallace MP, is calling on the community to help celebrate the Sunshine Coast’s local legends, with nominations now open for the 8th Annual Fisher Community Awards.

Recognising the everyday champions who go above and beyond for our region, the Awards honour outstanding individuals and organisations making a real difference in the fields of education, sport, the environment, innovation, volunteering and community service.

In a first for the event, 2025 will see the Awards culminate in a formal Gala Dinner celebration on Friday 19 September 2025, held at the Sunshine Coast Function Centre, Caloundra RSL.

“This year, we’re stepping things up. I’m incredibly proud to announce that we’ll be celebrating our winners in style with an exciting new Gala Dinner event, bringing together the entire community, finalists, families and supporters to shine a light on the people who make Fisher such a vibrant and caring place to live,” Mr Wallace said.

“From passionate educators and young achievers, to small businesses, sporting stars and tireless volunteers, these awards are about recognising the quiet achievers whose work often goes unnoticed, but whose impact is deeply felt.”

Nominations for the 2025 Fisher Community Awards are now open, and close at 11:59pm on Sunday, 17 August 2025. All nominations are anonymous and open to residents or organisations operating within the Federal Electorate of Fisher.
