STOP LABOR’S HEALTH TAX ON SENIORS

The Albanese Government is planning to slash support for older Australians by removing the age-based uplift on the Private Health Insurance Rebate for over-65s from April 2027.

For some retirees, this could mean paying more than $1,600 extra every year just to keep the health cover they have relied on for decades.

Older Australians did exactly what governments asked them to do. They took out private health insurance, paid their premiums, and helped reduce pressure on the public health system.

Now Labor wants them to pay the price.

For pensioners and retirees on fixed incomes, these changes are simply unaffordable. If older Australians are forced out of private cover, pressure on public hospitals, elective surgery waitlists and ambulance services will only get worse.

I am calling on the Albanese Government to reverse these unfair changes immediately.
