WALLACE BACK ON THE BIKE FOR FIVE-DAY TOUR DE FISHER

Federal Member for Fisher Andrew Wallace MP is taking the Coalition’s plan to fix the economy and protect Australia’s way of life directly to local communities during his annual Tour de Fisher.
Mr Wallace is cycling about 150 kilometres across the electorate and hosting more than 20 Listening Posts over five days, giving locals an opportunity to raise their concerns, share their ideas and hear more about the Coalition’s plan for Australia.
Riding from Monday, 21 September to Friday, 25 September, the tour is visiting communities from Kings Beach to Witta and Alexandra Headland to the Glass House Mountains.
Mr Wallace said the conversations during the first day of the tour had reinforced the depth of concern about Australia’s direction under the Albanese Labor Government.
“Tour de Fisher is my mobile office on two wheels, but this year it is also an important opportunity to take our plan directly to the people of Fisher,” Mr Wallace said.
“After just one day on the road, the message from locals is clear. Families, pensioners and small businesses are working harder but going backwards, and they are deeply concerned about the direction our country is heading under Labor.
“People are paying more for their groceries, electricity, insurance, rent, mortgage and fuel, while government spending, taxes and debt continue to climb.
“They want an alternative, and it is my job to explain the serious plan the Coalition is developing to fix the economy, restore our standard of living and protect our Australian way of life.
“Our plan starts with lower taxes, including axing Labor’s toxic taxes, delivering a Tax Back Guarantee and backing the small businesses that create local jobs.
“We will deliver cheaper power and energy abundance, and our Fuel Price Shield will automatically halve fuel excise when global oil prices surge above the trigger, saving motorists around 27 cents a litre or $15 on a typical tank.
“We will link migration to the number of homes being built, helping to ease pressure on housing while overhauling skilled migration so businesses can access the workers they genuinely need.
“We will also put Australians first by establishing a Future Generations Fund to pay down Labor’s trillion-dollar debt and invest in nation-building roads, ports, energy and water infrastructure.
“These are the policies I am spreading throughout my local community during Tour de Fisher, but this tour is also about listening. The feedback I receive will help us continue developing, strengthening and standing by the policies Australians need.
“Fisher covers almost 1,200 square kilometres, and the best way to understand what is happening across our region is to get out of the office and hear directly from the people who live here, while getting on the bike and spreading the message about the benefits cycling and regular exercise can have for our physical and mental health.”
“There are no appointments and no formalities. People can simply stop by, raise a local issue, share an idea or talk about what matters to them and their family.
“Whether it is cost of living, roads and rail, housing, healthcare, small business or another local concern, I want to hear about it.
“We need to continue doing the hard policy work, stand firmly behind our plan and work with everyone we need to deliver better outcomes for Australians.
“The people I have spoken with know Australia cannot afford more of the same from this woeful Labor Government. Our task is to earn their trust, present a credible alternative and replace this government with one that will fix the economy and put Australians first.”
