WALLACE HOSTS FIRST TOWN HALL AFTER COMMUNITY CALL FOR GREATER ENGAGEMENT

MEDIA RELEASE 7 April 2026

Federal Member for Fisher, Andrew Wallace MP, will host a good old fashioned Town Hall meeting in the Memorial Hall in Landsborough.

After holding nearly 200 listening posts across the electorate in 2025, Mr Wallace said the message from locals was clear, they wanted a larger forum to ask questions, hear directly from their federal representative, and be part of a broader conversation about the issues impacting their lives.

“Over the past year, I’ve spent hundreds of hours listening to people right across the Sunshine Coast, and the most consistent feedback I received was simple, people want Town Hall meetings,” Mr Wallace said.

“This is about giving our community the opportunity to come together, ask questions and have a genuine, open conversation about the issues that matter most.”

With more than 200 bookings and the venue nearing seating capacity, Mr Wallace said the strong turnout reflected growing concern in the community.

“There is real frustration out there. Families, small businesses and retirees are feeling the pressure, and people want answers.”

Mr Wallace will address attendees before opening the floor to questions on key issues including cost of living, housing affordability, fuel prices, infrastructure, healthcare, immigration, the NDIS and national security.

“This isn’t a speech, it’s a conversation. I’m there to listen, to answer questions and to take your concerns directly back to Canberra.”

Mr Wallace said forums like this play an important role in ensuring local voices are heard in national decision-making.

“Forming good and strong policy starts with listening, and that’s exactly what this Town Hall is about.”

The Town Hall will be held Wednesday 8 April at the Landsborough Memorial Hall from 12pm to 2pm, with a structured Q&A session followed by open questions and an opportunity for attendees to engage directly.
