WALLACE REAPPOINTED DEPUTY CHAIR OF PARLIAMENT’S INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE

MEDIA RELEASE

29 June 2026

Federal Member for Fisher Andrew Wallace MP has been reappointed Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security (PJCIS), one of the Parliament’s most significant oversight committees.

Mr Wallace said it was a great honour to once again serve as Deputy Chair of the bipartisan committee responsible for overseeing Australia’s intelligence and security agencies.

“It is a privilege to once again serve as Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security.”

“The Committee performs one of the Parliament’s most important responsibilities, ensuring Australia’s intelligence agencies have the legislative framework, oversight and accountability they need to protect Australians while maintaining public confidence.”

Mr Wallace said Australia’s national security environment had become increasingly complex and the Committee’s work had never been more important.

“The threats facing Australia continue to evolve. Espionage, foreign interference, cyber attacks and terrorism require constant vigilance and strong parliamentary oversight.”

“I look forward to working constructively with the Chair and colleagues from across the Parliament to support the outstanding work undertaken by ASIO, ASIS, the Australian Signals Directorate, the AFP and all of Australia’s national intelligence community.”

Mr Wallace said keeping Australians safe would always remain a priority.

“I thank my Coalition colleagues and fellow committee members for the confidence they have placed in me, and I look forward to continuing this important work in the service of Australia’s national security.”
