The Maleny Show

The Maleny Show is back. After a disappointing 2020, when COVID put an end to Queensland’s greatest exhibition, last week I had the honour of opening the 83rd Maleny Show and helping to bring city and country back together once again.
My Values

It’s now nearly five years since I first stood in this building and addressed the House. On that day I laid out my goals and made commitments to the people of Fisher who elected me. Throughout my life I have believe that when you set goals and make commitments, you should follow up on them and evaluate your progress against them. As we discuss this government’s federal budget today, I want to take the opportunity to do just that.
Pacific Lutheran College and Montville Tennis Club

The weekend just gone I had a terrific Saturday night with my wife, Leonie. We attended the Pacific Lutheran College rendition of Grease, and we had an absolutely fantastic time. There were 44 students and seven staff. We hadn’t been to a live theatre performance in so long, and we had such a good time.
Narrows Escape Resort

Today I want to talk about something that isn’t talked about in this House very much, and that’s a little bit of romance. Just in the last week, Tripadvisor have announced the world’s most romantic hotel was none other than the Narrows Escape in my great electorate of Fisher.
Sunshine Coast Infrastructure

Mr Deputy Speaker, I’ll take that as a Freudian slip! This budget has been fantastic from an infrastructure perspective. Those on the other side of this chamber mustn’t communicate with their state colleagues, like the Labor state government in Queensland, because if Mark Bailey, who’s the Minister for Transport and Main Roads in Queensland, knew that they were going to put this up as an MPI, he would have said: ‘Stop! Don’t do it to us. They’re going to cane us.’
Supporting Motor Mechanics

rise in support of the Competition and Consumer Amendment (Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Information Sharing Scheme) Bill 2021. I have a long history through or with the motor repair business.
The Federal Budget in Fisher

This week’s federal budget is another major boost for Sunshine Coast infrastructure with $172 million worth of new projects funded by the Morrison government, which will help secure our region’s recovery.
Family Domestic and Sexual Violence

On behalf of the Standing Committee on Social Policy and Legal Affairs, I present the committee’s report, incorporating a dissenting report, entitled Inquiry into family, domestic and sexual violence, together with the minutes of proceedings.
The Pacific Defence Inquiry

On behalf of the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade, I present the committee’s report, entitled Inquiry into Australia’s defence relationships with Pacific island nations.
